Section 1. Short Writing (25 points)
Instructions: Freelance journalists often pitch stories to editors of media outlets. Write a short pitch covering a current local Taiwanese issue (should not be about COVID-19 or cross-strait relations). As a stranger approaching an editor cold, begin with a one-sentence introduction (your background). Follow it with four well-crafted sentences explaining the local issue (the local Taiwanese issue), your angle, and why it appeals to the readers of the international media outlet that you are targeting. (choose an international media outlet – has to be mentioned in the pitch).
